Artist Appearance

We had a wonderful Artist Appearance today, unfortunately the gallery owner only made a very brief appearance.

As we wind down our January show, today we had not one, not two, not three or four, but FIVE of our eight Dragon Photo artist visiting The Gallery for an Artist Appearance.  I’m not sure how successful it was because I kept getting booted off and then finally could not get back on at all.  But I’m sure these five talented people were able to hold down the fort in my absence.

Our artists today were:

Sandriki Roux
Zephyr Pennell
Magix Merlin
Orpheus Kurosawa
And
Molly Montale

These, and the other three artists, should be so proud of themselves.  This show was very well received and no matter who wins an award on the 2nd, they are all winners.

Sorry to be so out of touch

So much has happened since I last blogged, so I’m sorry to have been out of touch for so long.  But, I promise to try and be better about posting.  Its just that some much wonderful stuff is going on.

February 2nd, 2008 at 12:00pm PDT, we will be holding the Award Ceremony for the 1st Annual Dragon Photo Competition.  This is an invitation only event.  Right now we are on a waitlist but if you are interested in having you name added to that list, please IM me in world (Wealthy Mizser).

Immediately following that ceremony at 1pm PDT, back at The Gallery, we’ll be opening our February show.  The Upper Level Gallery will feature the winners from the Dragon Photo Competition.  In the Lower Level Gallery we’re proud to present the wonderful photographic artwork of Carabella Babii.  We hope to have all the artist in house for this 2-hour opening party.

Shifting back in time just a bit, take out your mini-wayback wand and wave it over the December calendar.  At our December opening we advertised that a portion of all sales and donation would got to an AIDS/HIV organization.  The original plans for which organization fell through but thanks to the awesome work of Carolina Keats, I was able to connect with Ricken Flow.  I made my way over the the Nyumba Rafiki Community Center on the island of Holland (189, 39, 21), promptly dropped our donation in the coffers (feel free to visit, learn, and donate on your own)

I’d like to thanks and congratulate all of the artists: Kale Bellman, LawnDart Curtiss, Liz Gealach, Magix Merlin, Molly Montale, Orpheus Kurosawa, Sandriki Roux, and Zephyr Pennell.  I’d also like to thanks the panelist who continue to give very graciously of their time: Derwin Wycliffe, Cybergrrl Oh, Sasun Steinbeck, dada Heron, Cosimo Urbanowicz, Fellp Tuque, Octane Eliot, Yogi Fargis, Filthy Fluno, LauraMaria Onomatopoeia, and Pern Milestone.

So much happening, so much more to come.  Stick around, this is only gonna get better!

A busy Sunday

Quite a busy Sunday for me and The Gallery.

The day started off with a visit to the Isle of Wryms. It is now official, the 1st Annual Gallery Beleza Photo Competition Awards Event will take place on February 2nd on The Isle of Wyrms. This will be an invitation only event.

Following the Awards Event, The Gallery Beleza will be opening a new show. The Upper Level Gallery will be dedicated to the winner of the Photo Competition and the Lower Level Gallery will featured “The Path of Light” by Carabella Babii.

The next big event was an artist appearance at the Gallery. Magix Merlin spent an hour with us, talking to visitors and answering questions. Long after the on-hour session was over, the absynthe came out and, well, the rest is too messy to document – but photos were taken.

Magix Merlin at The Gallery BelezaFollowing Magix’s appearance I headed over to Conway to the Southern Gallery for a show by Texanna Schumann. The gallery area is an outdoor plaza setting that is part of a larger sim. The area is well designed and the art fit well into the gallery.

My last stop before heading back to The Gallery to get some work done was to see an artist I’d only seen advertised in the Art and Artists Network group. PJ Trenton was showing at the Nantucket Square and Theater on Nantucket. Another great outdoor setting. The big problem here was way too much lag! Now, that could have been due to SL, or due to the sim, or perhaps due to the fact that I saw about two dozen green dots in the same area I was in (the reason the picture doesn’t show so many people is because everything never really rezzed for me). A very impressive showing for an opening (for which I wasn’t even there for most of the first part of). I like several of the works shown and will be talking more to PJ in the future about possibly bringing his work to the Gallery Beleza.

What a great party tonight at The Gallery. Avendale’s own Molly Montale and Liz Gealach were on hand from 6pm to 7pm PST. Where Molly and Liz go, so goes a party. And party we did. Here are a few of the pictures.

Gallery Beleza at Avendale enters the Blogisphere

Welcome to all of you visiting us here in our new blog.  This space will be used to provide information on events at the Gallery Beleza at Avendale as well as a place to document things as they happen.

As many of you know, The Gallery Beleza, a Second Life Art Gallery,  focuses primarily on photographic art from either real life or Second Life, some untouched and some retouched.  Given my interest in photography, I often take pictures in world.  I’ll be sure to post them here (which will be much easier than trying to drop them to everyone.

Make sure to RSS feed this blog.  If you are not familiar with what an RSS feed is, I recommend Google Reader, and here is a short (3 minute I think) video on what RSS is and how simple RSS readers are to use.
